Day 3: Vientiane
Your guide will meet you at your hotel after breakfast and you’ll head straight to Wat Sisaket, the only structure to survive the Siamese Invasion of 1828 intact. Across the street is Wat Ho Phra Kheo, which was rebuilt in the 1930s and used to house the famous Emerald Buddha which is now on display in Bangkok's Grand Palace.
You'll continue to Patuxai, a Lao Victory Monument, that was finished around 70 years ago. The monument was built using American funds and cement intended for a new airport. The Royal Laotian Government decided instead to build the monument, which earned it the nickname of the "vertical runway".
Your next stop is That Luang, the holiest structure in Laos which features prominently on many Laos emblems. You’ll also pay a visit to the COPE (Cooperative Orthotic and Prosthetic Enterprise) Visitor Center for insight into the Secret War which sadly made Laos the most heavily bombed country in human history.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a ride outside of Vientiane to visit the famous Buddha Park near the Friendship Bridge. On the way back, we’ll stop at the Lao Disabled Women Development Center where women with disabilities come from all over Laos to live and study to gain life skills and vocational training to empower them to live independently.
In the late afternoon you’ll return to Vientiane and be dropped off at your hotel.
